Media Rainclouds

I’m tired of hearing about the global economy. I know City Bankers aren’t on many people’s Christmas list but in my opinion the media are as much to blame. They only report bad news.

You’ll no doubt all have heard about the struggling economy last week, following fears over Greece. It’s no wonder… it was all over the news, even on Radio 1 bulletins.

However, it was a fantastic day yesterday as the stock market launched into a recovery. Overall global markets were flying as investors bet on a successful bailout package for Greece. With not a single loser, the FTSE 100 finished 204.68 points higher at 5294.05, a 4% increase. This added £53bn to the value of Britain’s top companies, and was the biggest one day rise since May 2010.

So, how many of us have been talking about that today? Not many – Because it’s not made the news bulletins. It’s ridiculous.

Lets not allow the media rainclouds of doom drag us down. When you’re out and about chatting about business and the economy, do all you can to put a positive spin on it. Dare I say it, your brighter version of events may not be too far from the truth.
